Cultural Awareness to Cultural Safety in the Workplace

Duration: Full-day Workshop
Audience: Government, NGOs, frontline services, and community organisations

This workshop moves beyond basic cultural awareness and into the practice of decision making with cultural humility, accountability, with a foundation of systemic change. Designed for professionals working with First Nations communities, this workshop challenges participants to reflect deeply on how their workplace practices, policies, and interpersonal interactions can either reinforce or dismantle barriers to safety, equity, and justice.

Participants will explore:

  • The difference between cultural awareness, cultural competence, and cultural safety
  • How unconscious bias shows up in service delivery
  • Practical strategies to embed culturally safe practices in everyday work
  • The role of reflective practice in driving change and improving service

This is not just a training—it’s a transformative learning space to help teams build trust, improve outcomes, and honour the voices of First Nations peoples in all levels of service design and delivery.
